Film Screening – Sydney

September 20 at 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm

Cuba’s teaching method for adult literacy, ‘Yo, Sí Puedo’, has been effectively teaching in Australia for years. Join us as we watch an artefact of the merit of the method in a rural NSW town, and discuss the internationalism and value of education at the heart of Cuban socialism.

Join us 6pm this Sunday at the Humanist Society in Chippendale, Sydney to watch and discuss.

This documentary follows the story of its implementation in rural Australia and casts a light on the everyday harm and culture of shame surrounding adult illiteracy.

Introduction by Red Spark comrade, themselves a teacher by profession and most passionate about the successes of the Cuban education model will share their first-hand experiences and lessons in how we adapt revolutionary strategies to our home context.

Students, teachers, comrades, and friends alike are all welcome and encouraged to share perspectives on the role of internationalism and value of education.

Screenings in other cities to follow.
