The military occupation of Palestine will always face resistance.

No nation, including the Palestinian nation, will accept a foreign army occupying and stealing its land  for the people the occupier brings in, all the while killing, torturing and imprisoning thousands.

Of course Palestinians resist. Under a brutal military occupation, much resistance will be armed resistance. Armed resistance against military occupation has occurred in many countries in history and is occurring now in Palestine.

The Zionist apartheid state responds to every act of resistance with a deluge of propaganda, collective punishments and waves of military terror. For the last year Israel has been engaged in a vicious, genocidal war of occupation in Gaza that is now expanding into the West Bank and Lebanon. Tens of thousands have been killed or maimed. This includes thousands of children. Almost all casualties are civilians. Millions of Palestinians have been bombed into homelessness, hunger and disease.

Israel wants occupation without resistance

Zionist Israel can only achieve this with the support of the United States and the governments of Western Europe. The Australian state, and the Australian capitalist ruling class, share the outlook and interests of the USA and western Europe. The Australian government cooperates militarily, diplomatically and commercially with Tel Aviv. Australia is also integrated into the internationally organised production chain of advanced lethal weapons systems that Israel, along with all the imperialist states, ultimately rely upon for their dominance.

Australian governments, of both varieties, claim they support a “Two-State Solution” but only recognise the State carrying out the military occupation. They only cooperate militarily with the occupying Israeli state that monopolises control over the lands of historic Palestine, preventing any Palestinian state from being able to emerge. The “Two State” solution is no more than the fig-leaf that they have used to cover up their support for Zionism’s one state, Greater Israel “solution”.

On October 5 and 6 in most Australian capital cities, one year after the Israeli reign of terror from the air (re-)started in Gaza, people in Australia will protest the Israeli terror in Palestine, Lebanon, Yemen, and Iran. Important protests will demand that Australia end all cooperation and support for Israel and its wars.

Palestinians and Lebanese people have the right to resist military occupation and oppression.

We here have the duty to protest and bring “our” government to heel.
